In Pain so much last night...

that when I went to bed my heart and ribcage started hurting really bad. I had to lay down on my side for it to stop hurting, this is getting worse. I feel like everything is on fire when this happens, and it happens early at night, around 5 pm, before that I am fine but watch what I eat now because I don't want it to flare up, but it does. After 5pm I cannot eat anything because if I do it gets worse. I told my husband I don't think I can take much of this, and he felt really bad, he just hugged me last night, I feel like screaming when this happens because it hurts so much!

So, is it normal for chest/ribcage and heart to hurt afterwards, like after the heartburn has settled down. When I went to go to bed I tried to lay a certain way,and I couldn't because my arm, my ribcage and heart was in a lot of pain. My ribcage my left arm are still in pain, and it feels like I have been through the mill, anyone go through this??? Much help is appreciated.

Its sad, isnt it that we even have to deal with this?

I am waiting for some ultrasound results to come back this week to see if they found anything else. So far they are blaming my pain on my gallbladder, which is common of right side abdominal pain and I failed my hida scan...they are just confused about my left side pain. However, this last dr I am seeing said it is rare but some people have a nerve that runs across which could make it referred pain. Just hoping that is all that it is.

Hi Vicki,

It's nice to see you again here. We talked last month about our left sided pain - I'm very anxious to hear what they determine it is for you because maybe I can talk to my GI doc. We also talked about both having a spot on our liver. Mine was first seen on a CT scan in October which caused the GI doc to send me for an MRI. The MRI in October couldn't confirm if it was benign or not or even if it was a hemangioma. I just had a follow-up last week and guess what - they still don't know what it is. Only good thing sayd the GI doc is that it has not grown so it is stable but I need to have another MRI in 6 months. How long ago was yours discovered? and how often do they check it?

Take Care!

Hey Sue, yes I remember! Are you still having pain?

Why can't they confirm if it is a hemangioma, did the say? The size, shape?? That is great it has not grown, my dr also wants me to get a follow-up CT scan in 6 months (June)...then not sure after that. They found it in December during a catscan of my abdomen then did a follow-up scan the same month to make sure that is what it is and it is not growing. I just had an ultrasound yesterday and asked the tech to show it to me, but she couldnt find it. Mine only measured 7mm and she said the ultrasound can only pick up if 4mm or larger, so I am really hoping it is getting smaller maybe? Who knows! Otherwise, waiting on results from that before I reschedule my gallbladder surgery.

I know it has been a couple of months since you posted. I just got back from a week stay at the hospital with a severe diverticulitis attack. I am 36 and a young mom. No way did I see this coming. I don't think I eat horribly, but I have three kids 6,5 and 2 and we don't eat healthy every single night. I understand your pain and frustration with the doctors. It is hard. I am just learning about this and how it applies to my life. My mom has this and has altered her diet and lifestyle. Now, I am home on "bedrest/rest" for one to two weeks. ( I work part time commercial real estate). But, getting this disease at such a young age really stinks. Any input?

Hi, I am soo sorry you had such an attack. Did you know you had divericuli beforehand? Unfortunately this is hereditary, so since your mom had it that is probably why you have it soo young. My mom had it too (she had a severe diverticulitis attack in her late 50s that almost killed her), which is why I probably have it at 34. I just had my gallbladder out two weeks ago, but plan on starting a high fiber diet with supplements as soon as my body can handle it, as the extra fiber caused pain before the surgery. Also, when you increase your fiber intake you need to increase your water intake so you dont get constipated. I am also steering clear of nuts and seed...not proven to cause problems but makes sense how it could and dont feel like taking that chance. What did they do for you in the hospital, antibiotics? Hope you are feeling better soon!
