My sister has IBS and Diabetes

Hi.
My little sister has a bit of a problem in that she has DIabetes and IBS so that is a bit contradictory with her diet.
With diabetes she is supposed to have cereal and things like that but to put it a bit bluntly it kinda goes straight through her, so we're not sure on things she can and can't eat really. We have spoken to the diabetic nurse at our local surgery about it but all she pretty much said about her IBS was to eat more oaty stuff rather than wheat and rhye i think. Something like that.
Wondering if anyone has any ideas??
Thanks
Regina

Many of the Diabetic meds cause diarrhea maybe she really does not have IBS but has side effects of her meds. You can check for side effect on the web and see if this could be it. Also if she does not take meds taking calcium carbonate with her meals may help to firm up the BM's. Email me if you want the info on what form of calcium to take and how to take it. But be sure she can take calcium with any meds she is on.

HI Regina,
Welcome to the board.
Thanks.. I'll get her to read this reply... and it's the diarrhea part of IBS. She eats somethings and she says it just goes straight through her a lot of the time. She rang me when I was away last week almost panicking because she didn't know what she could eat as she was home from school for lunch. I told her to have some porridge.. I hope that was a good idea?
Thanks for your help.
