Post colonoscopy difficulties

Hi,

This is my first time posting on this message board. I am in need of help. I had my first colonoscopy last Monday (2/27). Since then I have had bouts of diarrhea that range from mild to more severe. I am trying to eat a very mild diet right now....keeping in mind the BRAT diet. Nothing is helping. I talked to my dr. who did the colonoscopy and he said my colon is very healthy (that's good news) and he didn't think these difficulties were related to the procedure. He suggested I might have caught a virus. Frankly, I don't agree. I'm as healthy as a horse most of the time, and have NEVER had issues with diarrhea before, ever. I find it hard to believe that my system is out of wack and it doesn't have anything to do with the colonoscopy. My question is....have any of you had a similar experience? I have no idea what to do about this. It's uncomfortable, very stressful because I don't know what to do, and don't even really know what's wrong!! Very upsetting. Any feedback would be most welcome!

Thank you. Nancy

I had my first one in September and it seems I did have digestion problems for a few days afterwards. I think it has more to do with a sensitivity to the prep than the actual procedure, but I have a lot of problems in that area anyway so any kind of stress seems to set me off and I was VERY stressed with that prep. I mean, it's some pretty harsh and powerful chemicals. In fact, I went on a bland diet for a couple days before the prep and had diarrhea from that because I just wasn't used to it.

Nancy,

Call another doctor or your regular doctor and tell them what is going on.
