Surgery tomorrow

Well, finally getting my gallbladder out tomorrow. Part of me can't wait because I am tired of the diet and pain (which this will hopefully help) and the other part of me is really scared. I have had surgery before, but who wants to have surgery? I think I am even more nervous because I have a liver hemangioma which would be dangerous if they do anything to accidentally. Any words of advice (or reassurance), lol?

Hello Van,

I've been through surgery, and I don't think that it's fun either. Why don't we pray. I'll write a prayer, and you can read and pray with me.

Dear Lord,

You see the need that this lady has, who is going into surgery tomorrow. Right now, Lord, put your hands on this lady, and guide her through the surgery, and help her to have a speedy recovery.

Amen.

Sincerely,

Bryan

Hi Van - if it's any consolation anxiety before surgery is completely normal. Feel feel to just let it all out.

My advice would be to eat a low fat diet immediately after the surgery and increase your fat intake gradually till you are sure that there won't be any problems.

Some people are able to eat what ever they want the next day - there are a few of us here that took longer to adjust.

The 2 days following the surgery were the most painful for me. I remember thinking that I would never ever ever have a tummy tuck after experiencing the post-op GB pain. I had my surgery on a Thursday morning - was home in time for the evening news and back at work on Monday morning (desk job). I was bloated and for the week after surgery had to wear loose dresses or pant with elastic waist band. It was a good 3 weeks till I could wear my 'skinny jeans' without being in discomfort.

Take care & take it easy,

Jo

Hi Vicki,

Don't know if you remember me but we have talked before about our digestive woes and liver hemangiomas. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I'll be thinking of you and saying a prayer that all goes well with your surgery. Of course you are apprehensive, who wouldn't be the day before surgery. It is a totally natural feeling, so don't beat yourself up about it. I do hope that you get a good night sleep tonight and perhaps dream about how great you are going to feel after the surgery and your recovery is all done. I'm headed on vacation tomorrow so I won't be back til next Monday. Hope to read some good news from you then.

Best Wishes!
Take Care!

Sue

Got home this afternoon, they were able to do it lapriscopically and it went well. In quite a bit of pain and felt horrible because of the anesthesia (which is rare for me). Even got pics of it. Thanks again!

Van - so glad to hear that they were able to do it laproscopically - the pics sound very cool.

The first few days are the worst.

Make sure you drink lots. When you feel like eating stick to very low fat foods at first.

All the best,

Thanks. I am trying...though it is hard because I have been doing it soo long, just want to eat something normal. So I had spagetti, red sauce and bread tonight and OUCH! Maybe I rushed it a little? =(
