Gastroparesis???

Hi all.....so, after 4 months and multiple tests, the gastric emptying test revealed that I am not emptying food from my stomach into my intestines in a timely fashion. Okay...so now what? Dr. says Zelnorm...Anyone have experience w/ this med? I am just not into taking all these meds...I am allergy meds and Nexium and now I need something to get my gut moving??? What is the possibilty I just need to de-stress or exercise more? And how does this gastroparesis just come on?

Any suggestions or adive would be helpful.

Thanks!

CSMO

Hi there

I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis last year...I do not have a severe case
I take Zelnorm twice daily to get things going. I had a lot of pain
and don't go more than twice a week. I now go about twice a day and
most days feel better. I do still have pain though. The meds work,
one side effect for me was and still is that I sometimes get diarrhea..
for a day or two....are you on a soft diet?
Hang in there.

Thanks for the support! My number one complaint is feeling nauseous! I was wondering about that...Zelnorm is really for constipation and I am not really consitpated...or bloated....I just feel sick to my stomach like every day....almost after everything I eat...not every time but most of the time.

I am going to start the meds before breakfast tomorrow...thanks again.

Thanks so much for all the info Lynn!! I have to say that I don't think I can do the Step one diet b/c I really can't avoid to lose any more weight but thankfully, I have been sticking to the Step 2 diet...except I drink Soy milk and eat carbs...but not junk sugar carbs but breads and such.

I think the Zelnorm might be helping but it might be too early to tell too b/c it's only been 3 days.

I will keep you posted....what do you think of digestive enzymes? Dr. says it's not a digestion problem though....

CSmo ;)
