Hi! I am searching for anyone who has or known someone who has experienced stomach issues postpartum or who has answers or can direct me to someone who may.
It started with a small twinge under my right rib 3 months after childbirth (around the time I started weaning from breastfeeding.)
2 months later I started feeling 'full' with recatl pressure
1 month after that I started with bad gas and cramps followed by an emptying of my bowls within 20 minutes of waking each morning. This has been going on for over 3 months! I had chronic diarrhea for 2 straight months!
I have neen to my PCP, a GI, a colon dr.,soon a Gallbladder surgeon and have had ultrasounds, stool samples, blood tests, sigmoidoscopy (all negative) and a HIDA scan (which showed my gallbladder is functioning at 10% - hence the meeting with the surgeon.) I have also tried going dairy free for a month and gluten free for a week.
I have 'met' 2 other females on line who have the same/similar symptoms which all started after childbirth and we are all in deperate need of answers.
Thank you in advance!

Hi eem14
Welcome to the board.
Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Have you had a met with your surgeon yet? Pregnant women have been known to have gallbladder problems to due during the pregnancy your levels of hormones are higher which inhibits the gallbladder from contracting so emptying the bile is a slower process, also if you have a lot of weight gain during pregnancy the excess fat leads to excessive cholesterol which causes too much bile for the gallbladder to get rid of. If you have rapid weight loss after childbirth this can cause the body to burn fat and causes the liver to send extra cholesterol into the GB causing problems also. I hope this has helped you and hope you are feeling much better. Take care!
