Hi everyone, first of all thanks for listening.
I am 20 weeks pregnant and my dr diagnosed me with a malfunctioning gall bladder. No stones or anything, so not really worth the risk of doing surgery during pregnancy. My problem is that I can't take any meds (other than tylenol which doesn't seem to work). I am in constant pain from 2pm until I go to bed. I am a really active person so this interferes with my work and personal life
To bear the rest of my 5 months, any tips on what I should and shouldn't eat? I've been on weight watchers for the past 3 years so am very concious of eating healthy and getting a lot of fiber. I'd like to find one food that would be safe but that really isn't ok for the baby since i need daily protein, calcium, etc. PS, I've been avoiding fatty food but the attacks seem to come after anything, even something as easy as rice cakes or water!!
Any tips that you have learned would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again

Hi Shamrock - congratulations on your pregnancy!
I'm sorry that your GB is acting up.
Can your doctor refer you to a pre-natal dietician who can give you specific advice on your diet.
I know that saturated fats (ie. meat, dairy) can cause problems - have you considered obtaining protien & calcium from other sources?
When my gb was giving problems - if it flared up I'd have to go for a few days on a very very low fat diet - (which I would imagine is not appropriate for someone who is pregnant) Once it would settle down then I could gradually increase my fat intake so that it was at least at the low end of normal.
Wishing you all the best - I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful
