Gastroparesis anyone?

Hello all!
After several doctors and multiple tests, I finally received an answer this week for what the heck has been going on with me for almost two years: gastroparesis. Has anyone else had this? My gastric emptying study came back at a 0% efficiency at 90 minutes. There was no movement in fact until I got up and walked around and it stopped as soon as I laid down again. So after 2.5 hours they finally had me stand against the camera. My doctor started me on Zelnorm and will be doing an EGD on June 16. He really didn't give me anything else to do in the meantime other than take meds.
I really don't understand why I have pain on my right side though since the stomach is on the left...like a sharp pain that is constant. I know I should always feel full if my stomach isn't emptying but instead I almost feel like I'm always hungry and nauseous at the same time. Does anyone out there have any advice? I've been online and read up what this is and how it's treated. Has anyone out there tried the liquid/soft diet? If so, did it help? Thanks in advance.

Hi Kweenie97!
Happy Memorial day!!
Hello,
Sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with this disease. I have had gastroparesis for about 4 years now. I am taking Reglan, which has helped me immensly, but I have heard that not everyone can take this drug because of the side effects. I think it is just a matter of trying different things with your doctor and seeing what works for you. I also have horrible reflux because of it and have to take Prevacid.
I have pain on my lower right side, but that is because I also have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease. I don't think just gastroparesis would cause right side pain. Mostly it just makes me feel full and nauseous, and gives me reflux.
I have found that paying attention to my diet has helped me a lot. My doctor told me to stay on a low fat/low fiber diet. She gave me a list of foods to eat and avoid, but also said it depends on the person and sometimes it is just trial and error. I have found that I have trouble eating raw fruits and vegetables, and especially salads. Mine hasn't been severe enough that I've had to try the liquid diet, so I can't offer advice on that. But I have found eating soft foods when I'm not feeling well helps.
You didn't say what kind of doctor you were seeing, but if they don't know much about gastroparesis, you might consider looking for one that does. My doctor has been a great help to me.
Hope this helps a little at least.
