Hello, I am having some problems and I would much appreciate it if you could look over my symptoms and see if they are something you might be familar with. Well, about two months ago I began having sharp pains on the right side of my upper chest. I went to the doctor and he said that I probably had Galstones. He wanted to have tests done, however I am in the process of getting new medical insurance right now and the hospital would not do them until I am insured again. Well, I now no longer the sharp pains at all. However, my stomach is bloated and I sometimes have severe bouts of gas. I also have obvious weight gain, however this could be because I quit smoking a month or two ago. Not sure if it means anything, but my stools are kind of a tan color, smeel worse then normal and are usually soft. I experence burning in my stomach that comes and goes and it is hard for me to sleep on my stomach, because it feels like there is too much preasure on my lower right side. I am also having pains in my back just below the shoulder blades. Seems to radiate to both sides of my back. I also sometimes have pain on my left side in the stomach region. If I get really hungry I have stomach pain and I also usually have stomach pain after I eat. I also sometimes have a preassure type pain on my left or right side, just below my last rib. Usually the right side, but I have also felt it on the left.

I went to the emergency room about two weeks ago because the pain in my back under my shoulder blades scared me, as I was not sure if my liver or kidneys were hurting. They took a urine test, which they said looked fine (not sure what they were looking for or what it would have told them) and that was it. They said they could do no more and that I needed to see a specialist. Well, I should have insurance within the next week or two if all goes well. But right now I am pretty scared, as I do not know if I am in serious trouble or if this is still all related to what my doctor suspected was gallstones.

If anyone has had these problems or thinks they know what I am going through, please respond asap. I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.

I would have them check your gallbladder again. Any pain under the ribs is usually gallstone related. Good luck to you!

I am pretty confused. Last Friday I went in for a catscan. They made me drink this stuff that smelled like apple hand lotion and then they stuck me in the cat scan machine while giving me an iv of some stuff that made me feel warm all over. at any rate, today my doctor called and said the results came back normal. he also said my blood test and urine tests came back normal. i don't get it. how can these tests come back normal when there is something definatly wrong with me? anyone have a similar experience?

Normal test results can be confusing to us, but this test ruled out something. What has the doctor suggested next? Don't be afraid to ask questions and always remember that you as the consumer have the right to answers. YOU are paying the doctor, he is working for YOU.

Just because this test came back 'normal' does not mean everything is fine. You need to be persistent and ask what will be done next and until a reason/cause is found for your discomfort.

Good luck and let us know what happens!

I went to the hospital last week for a HIDA scan. I went to the doctor today for the results. He said my gallbladder and pancrease and liver all seem to be working fine. He is kind of stumped. He drew some more blood and said he wants to order an Endoscopy, which does not sound fun at all.

This is really blowing my mind. I thought for sure all this was from my gallbladder. There is something wrong, but no one can seem to figure it out. I don't know whats worse, feeling the way I do or not knowing what is wrong.

The unknown is usually worse than reality. The good news was the negative test results you received so far, but needing more testing is stressful. An endoscopy sounds worse than it is...here is some info for you....
