After Five Years Major Flare

Well, I haven't been on in quite a while. I have been so healthy it is sinful. Then about three months ago I started noticing I was slowing down some. I didn't think of Crohns because my diahrrea didn't increase. Boy was I wrong. The bad thing about Crohns is it can disguise itself even from those of us who have had it for years. I would have gone to the doctor much earlier but I thought perhaps menopause, perhaps just old age creeping up. Anyway by the end of April I could barely get out of bed. I was still going to work everyday, but I was killing myself. The bad thing is when I went in the hospital I was seen by a new doctor who tried every new drug he ever read about for treating Crohns. I was on Rifiximin, Flagyl, Prednisone, Asacol, 6MP, and Ferrous Sulfate. Of course, I was sick as a dog. I asked him to cut back on the meds and he wanted to stick with the regime because I had been so sick. I kept thinking how will he know what works if I stay on all of this. I finally got him to wean me of the antibiotics and the prednisone. Now it is Asacol, 6MP and iron. I seem to be doing okay, but it has taken so much longer to bounce back. I used to go in the hospital get on meds, get some fluids and come out raring to go. It is hell getting old and having to deal with this lunacy.

Anyway for those of you who are young take care of yourself so you won't have these flare ups when you are old!:-) My cousin has this and she follows all the rules, so even though she was very sick when we were younger, she hasn't been in flare for over 16 years. Guess this time I better take the meds as ordered.:-)
