Well about six months ago i was very constipated very gassy and blooted and could not get relief so i went to the hospital i was told at that time to purchace a suppositorys and try it at home. that did not work i then went back to the hospital they then gave me a enima to try at home. At that point i was bleeding from the anus because i was pussing so hard to try to get something out. That to did not work. I ate bran and more bran used supositories and i finally got relief in the form of diarea but i was still blooted. i went to my doc and was told to sit on the tolet until it happened... God help me but if i did that i would still be sitting there. i am still blotted and when i do finally go it is very hard to push out and it looks soft not hard which i think is weird. why would it be so hard to go if it is not constipation??? when i do go it is long and thin. Now i have been to the hospital and the doc and they are not helping is there something more i sould be telling them... forcing them to take tests... Please help me....

WATER...drinks lots and lots of water! Not fruit juice and pop and sports drinks, but pure water. Everything can get very hard and difficult to push out when you are not properly hydrated. I normally use my coffee mug all day long, starting with a cup of coffee and then filling my mug with water throughout the day. Try this method, it certainly can't hurt you and might loosen things up enough to allow it to pass...keep us updated Please

I get like that all the time too. I'm usually very gassy and my stomach is sore if I don't go to the bathroom. I had my gall bladder taken out last October and they said I could just about eat everything, but there are things I do stay away from. For instance, most dairy products give me gas, fresh fruit and fresh vegetables and most carbohydrates give me gas. So the question is: what CAN I eat? It's very frustrating, but looking at the reply to you, it is good to drink alot of water. Water is usually the answer for me. I also take a Senekot and Stool Softener tablet every other day. However, it's not a great idea to get too used to them either. I have an appt. w/my gastroentrologist on Monday night and I know what he's going to say already: get a colonoscophy (it will be my fifth one). Anyway, good luck. I guess it's just a question of trial and error and what works for you.

Many foods cause excess gas and bloating for me too and I found that taking Acidophilus 3 times a day helps a lot. I buy the store brand at WalMart, so it isn't too pricey. Another problem that developed over time is that I became lactose intolerant. WalMart also has a digestive aid right next to the Lactaid brand tablets, but are much cheaper. Try those with any foods that cause you discomfort and see if it helps you. I also buy lactose free milk...it cost more, but is worth it for me!

Thanks so much for your advice. I do have the acidpholus(sp?) but only take it once a day. I should increase the dosage. Wish I had a WalMart by me, but I live in the city and there are none around. But thanks again. Getting tired of being just one big gas ball!

I only mentioned WalMart because they carry inexpensive brands that still work. I am sure you can find something that will work fine for you, just no need to go with a 'name' brand that is prohibitively priced.

Might I make a suggestion for the constipation part? Many years ago, my parents and I were on the island of St. Croix. Their food there is VERY expensive. Well, my mother and I found out that the cheapest way for us to eat breakfast was to buy Cheerios. Now, I am one that does not go every day, mostly due to a thyroid problem, but anyhow, I ate Cheerios every day while there and let me tell you. I was never so regular in my life. Still to this day, unless I eat either Cheerios every day or Raisin Bran, I will not go for 2-3 days. Just a suggestion. Hope everything works out for you.

Print out what you just wrote and take it to you OB/GYN Dr. Show him this entire article you just posted and see what he says. I can guarantee he will do more tests on you. Good Luck!

Thank you all for your advice. It makes me feel better that someone knows how i feel. I see the new doc on monday. I have decided that I will not take no for an answer I want some tests this has gone on too long and I too am tired of feeling like a gas ball. I have my son's graduation next week and know that if i eat anything i will not feel comfortable all day. So I hope i can get some sort of relief. Oh and i will be prementral that week so that will add to it... geeeesh lol
