Weight Loss ???????

I was thinking, when I was in the ER and the Dr. came in and said I had to have my GB removed, she also said (very enthusistically) that I would digest my food better and I would lose weight. Has anyone ever heard of the lose weight part? Have any of you lost weight after having your gallbladder removed? I would like some input as I have not read anything or ever heard anything like this before.
Thanks,
Brenda

I have never heard of this either! Can you go back and ask the ER doctor to back up this claim?

My gallbladder was removed years ago and although I keep my weight under control, I never had any help from having my GB removed!

Truthfully, it is not a big deal. I was just curious and I have NEVER heard anything like this before. I have somewhat of a medical background. I have a great medical book and nothing is mentioned. I just wondered if anyone else has ever been given this information. As for going back to the ER, I hope I NEVER have to step foot in that place again.

I totally agree that a trip to the ER is at the bottom of my 'things to do' list too!
