Diarrhea After Eatin SOME Cheese & Other

Ok so I don't know if this is anything. I have done research on a few things and they don't seem right. Celiac disease, lactose intolerance, and Irritable bowel syndrome. Any ideas of what might be happening here. I seem to get bad diarrhea a lot after I eat cheese. Particularly always Tacos, Pancakes and Waffles (maybe the syrup?), melted cheddar cheese on a bagel..etc. Those are the things that do it every time. But then it doesn't happen after, just pieces of brick cheese, nachos with cheese, cheeseburgers, pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches.. So i thought it was melted cheese maybe but I can eat some of those things too. SO i am really confused. And its not milk products cause I can drink milk fine. This started happening at least 3 yrs a go if not longer. And I LOVE CHEESE lol! Any ideas of what might possibly be going on? Anyone with similar problems? Why can I eat some things and not others? After I had tacos on Wed. evening (around 6:30pm), I spent the early morning hours (around 7am)of Thursday running back and forth to the bathroom for about an hour or so.

It sounds more like something other than the cheese is causing the problem...the taco shells, the waffles/pancakes, bread used for grilled sandwiches. Have you been tested for specific allergies to grains? There might be a particular grain that is causing the problem?

Even though I am lactose intolerant, it does not cause diarrhea for me. I can eat some cheeses without a problem, but certain ones are bad for me. I have also learned that lactose fillers, which are used as a binder in many drugs, is bad for me.

Could it be the fat content of the cheese?

The foods that you mentioned are quite high in fat (ie. burgers, pizza, taco salads can be if they have avacado or sour cream sauce in them, grilled cheese, waffles, etc).

Try eliminating cheese for a few weeks and see if that helps. You can order most foods w/o it - even pizza. With so many different food sensitivities it doesn't even shock servers any more.

If you are still having to run to the bathroom after eating burgers, salads, pizza. etc without consuming cheese you may want to consider eating low-fat for a while and see how that goes.

Milk is much lower in fat than cheese is - so if the problems are a result of the fat content of your diet then it would make sense that the cheese causes problems but the milk doesn't.

Wish I had an easy answer - let us know how you are doing,
