Pain in the butt.... literally

There's no easy way to say this so....
I finished my period yesterday and with every period comes the obligatory diarrhea. After running to the ladies multiple times, needless to say my rump was sore so I didn't think much of it. While taking my evening shower I noticed a protrustion, shall we say, where there wasn't before yesterday morning. It hurt a bit when I washed myself and then began to ITCH. So I drug out my trusty mirror and did a self-exam.
It looked like it was about the size of an uncooked navy bean (after that comparison I'll never eat ham and beans again!), was flesh colored and hard. I poked it back into me and immediately felt better - that was when I came to the conclusion that I had a hemorrhoid. So I got on the computer and after all of that research, I'm baffled as to how I wound up with hemorrhoids. My diet is full of fiber, I drink 3 32oz bottles of water a day, exercise regularly, I don't strain and have never had problems with hard stools. And I don't have any children.
All I know is that this HURTS. Preperation H and Tucks aren't working, no pain killer I've tried works, sitting in a warm bath isn't going to happen as I only have a shower and I can't walk around with my finger in my butt or my cheeks clenched so nothing "pops out". Sitting is a nightmare and walking is worse. The only relief I have is lying down. I know after 2 days of this I must sound like the worlds biggest baby... but I'd take an X-acto blade to myself if I thought it would work. And it will be 3 weeks before I can see my primary care physician - don't you just LOVE HMOs.
Someone please tell me that the OTC meds have a cumulative effect or that someone has had surgery and is living pain free. Seriously, ladies, I don't know how much of this I can stand! And this is coming from a woman who had a root canal with only one shot of Novacain.

It's me again.... back from a little digging on the boards
Wren mentioned "pushing them back in so they don't pop" (my quotation marks, not hers). Wouldn't one popping relieve the pressure? I know it would bleed but blood I can handle without batting an eye. And I understand about infection being a very real concern in that area of the body. But I've had bruises drained that did much to ease the pressure and pain.
Just a thought....
I can feel your pain!
