Hi everyone,
I'm turning to you to see if anyone else has ever had these symptoms and if so was it their gall bladder. For about two months I've been having a dull ache behind my right breast and going to my arm pit and around to my back. Mammogram was negative. Over the counter pain relievers don't do anything. Sometimes I feel like it hurts more if I have been using my arm more or if I feel stressed. My Dr. wants me to have a gall bladder sonogram as he thinks it could be that, I've also been having increased incidents of acid reflux. Does this sound like anyone out there? Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi Ali and welcome to the board! Sorry I didn't see this sooner, but having some severe weather that is keeping me off my computer tonight.

Your symptoms might be gall bladder, although mine were much more unpleasant. The pain was significant and eating became very unenjoyable for me.

I think the gall bladder sonogram is a good idea. If

Hi Ali - I didn't really have any symptoms prior to a major GB attack that lead to my diagnosis. After the attack I had lots of problems - like it was brewing all along and then just couldn't go back into hibernation.

My GB was removed in Feb/04.

I found that eating foods low in fat made a huge difference. I pretty much eliminated trans fat and saturated fat from my diet. Stopped eating meat, eggs, dairy and processed foods. Eggs & diary have always caused me problems - so giving them up wasn't a hardship.

Try not to have long spells of fasting then eat a big meal - it is hard on our system. My typical day would strat with tons of coffee, maybe a bit of juice - but nothing till lunch time - which was often something light - and I'd arive home starved and have a huge dinner. No wonder my digestive system was out of sorts.

Hope things go well for you,

Jo

I found that by modifing my diet

Hi Ali, i was actually just coming to this board to ask the same thing myself. For a few weeks now I have had a gnawing pain that comes and goes throughout the day under my right breast and into the back, also radiating down my arm as you mentioned. I went to the GP who didnt rule out my gallbladder but wanted to try me on ormeprazole (sp?) for 2 weeks to see if the pain is ulcer or reflux related first. I have read around on gall bladder attacks and while it doesnt seem like you or I have had one yet, it does seem that gall bladder symptoms can grumble along for a while. My pain this week has been pretty bad :( I hope you get some answers!

Do you notice if any certain food brings on the pain. I had a severe attack after eating chinese one night. Anything spicy, fatty, fried, or a food allergen that you have can bring on gallbladder pain. I had pain under my right breast, back pain and then some pain under my right arm pit. OTC Pain medicine didnt help me either, but I also had attacks and ended up at the Dr to get a shot to relieve the pain.

good luck
