Pain from stones

OK, I don't know for sure if this works but a friend of mine told me that when she would have pain due to gallstones, she would somehow get on her head and stay like that until the pain left her. She had a stone the size of a golfball she said and everytime it blocked the bile duct, she would stand on her head. Thus causing the stone to move away from the duct. Now, I can not say from experience if this works or not and hopefully I won't have to. I have 2 weeks to go for my surgery and since my ER stint, I have had no further problems. SO, if any of you have any bouts of pain, try it and let the rest of us know if it works.

Lots of hugs, prayers and positive vibes being sent your way Brenda!
That is great that you now have your own personal 'advocate' at the hospital. You'll be home and recovering in no time and I will be watching for an update.

Actually, all three males in my house will do whatever I ask of them.
Oh - take advantage of that as long as you can! I'd suspect if you are like most households it doesn't happen often.
Wishing you a smooth and quick recovery,
Jo
Doesn't it feel great to be home Brenda?
Take it very easy and allow those 3 males to wait on you! One thing that I always found helpful (many abdominal surgeries) is to support the surgical area with a pillow. If or when a cough or sneeze sneaks up on you, hug that pillow against yourself and the pain won't be as severe.
Visit when you feel up to it and keep us updated on how you are recovering. Each day will get a bit better, but you need to rest and allow your body to heal.

Hi Brenda, sounds like you are recovering nicely! I should have told you about the best way to get out of bed....always roll to the side (either one), put your legs over the edge of the bed and that will cause/help you to sit up. Holding a small pillow over the surgical area will add support and is especially helpful if you need to cough, sneeze, or even when sitting or standing upright.
Don't forget to be adding enough fiber to your diet, plus be sure to drink a lot of water. Taking Rx pain meds will constipate you and that is the last issue you need to deal with right now! Use the pain meds to keep you comfy and if they help with napping, that is another bonus.
Take it slow, rest often and visit and keep us updated as you are able. We are delighted to have you back and recovering!
