For those with IBS...

For those who have IBS what changes have you made in your life-i.e. daily routine, diet, etc.- that have helped the most?

I have a mild case of IBS w/ diarrhea and so far can't find any foods that trigger episodes. I know my flare-ups are related to emotional stress so dealing with that would certainly help. I really want to get it under control.

Any tips would be great!!
Thanks!!

Those are great articles! Thanks for the links :)

I also just bought a book by Heather Van Vorous about IBS (I've noticed her name mentioned alot) and it's really interesting and helpful. I've been trying to find specific foods that trigger my IBS but that can get really frustrating so it's helpful to instead focus on categories of foods, as she suggests.

I have a mild case but still plan on adopting some of her diet recommendations. I've already gotten some peppermint tea and soy products to get started!

For me IBS causes alot of anxiety so this board is a great place to share thoughts and ideas. Let's keep the ideas and support going!

Thanks,

Anxiety seems to be one of the possible triggers for IBS and some recent research carried out by Prof. Whorwell in Manchester (UK) seems to prove that hypnotherapy is successful for treating it.

I have had personal experience of IBS being greatly improved by hypnotherapy. Quite a few hypnotherapists now offer treatment. Rob Devoy has a section on his site which explains how it helps : http://www.robdevoy.co.uk which you might find helpful.
