My GI doctor called me at home to tell me that my colonoscopy shows that I have microscopic colitis. It makes sense to me after reading some information as it fits my symptoms completely. I thought I had exacerbated my IBS but couldn't understand why no one had the volume of diarrhea or why fiber which helps IBS caused so much pain and worsening of symptoms. Now I understand alittle bit better what to do.
I started on Entocort this afternoon ($400 for a month supply - OUCH!!!!) and hope that this medication helps. I am also looking at following a Gluten free diet since many people find relief with it. I am starting out by eliminating dairy to see if it helps.
If anyone here has some information about coping with this disease or about the side effects of the Entocort I would be grateful.
TIA
Meg

<Thanks Elise. Some great information there. Considering the gluten free diet but want to make sure it's appropriate.
Day 2 of the steroids - no change in my condition yet. Hoping to see some improvement.

Hopefully you'll start to feel some improvement by tomorrow (Sunday). Usually steroids kick in by day 3, at least in my experience! Keep us updated and let me know if there's anything else I can research for you.
