I'm hoping someone here might be able to tell me what's going on.

I've been having reflux problems for about a week now. I was taking Pepcid and other antacids last week and it seemed ok until yesterday. I ate a bagel/cream cheese for breakfast.  All of a sudden I got a tickling cough in the bag of my throat. I took a sip of water and started choking on it. I went to the bathroom where I threw up fluid only, 3 times.  None of the bagel came up.

It just happened again. I had heartburn before lunch. Ate some pizza and ginger ale and was sitting here drinking water when I choked again. Went the bathroom and vomited once.

It's almost like my esophogus is blocked and the water is going down the wrong way. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?  I'm going to my primary doctor tomorrow.

TIA!

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this! I'm sure it's unpleasant.

It sounds to me like you do have some sort of reflux or GERD. I know it can give you the feeling like something is lodged in your throat. I don't have much experience with it myself other than when I was pregnant, but, I think that carbonated drinks can make things worse (referring the to ginger ale you had at lunch). I would just eat carefully until you get some advice from your doc.

HTH!

This could possibly be hereditary and it's good that you made an appointment to see your doctor right away. Please let us know what your doctor determines.
