And EXTREMELY UNCOMFORATABLE...............

For about the past 3 to 4 weeks I have had bloating of my abdomen. I can try to discribe it....

Puffed out stomach, pressure all the way to my ribs and around my waist even to the sides and back. Have gone to doctor and ruled out any serious problems and he thought it was gas. What do I do ?????? It is very uncomfortable and makes me feel miserable. Anything that works quick?????????????

I used the 'shocked' emoticon because I cannot believe your doctor just wrote it off as gas. Didn't he/she recommend anything?

Not knowing what is causing your distress makes it harder to suggest anything. One product that has helped me is Phazyme.

Are you possibly lactose intolerant? Try eliminating foods that contain dairy, like cheese, milk, etc. Also check food labels to see if they contain milk solids. Now would be a good time to start a food journal and you might figure out which foods cause the most distress. Once you possibly see a pattern, you can take your journal back to the doctor. If he/she still dismisses you, it is time to find a new doctor!

My doc ran tests for my gall bladder, pancreas, stomach & liver. Didn't find anything wrong. I have a call into him now, hope he calls back. All my lab work was good and the ultra-sound showed nothing.

All I know is that it is very uncomfortable. I am not use to having a stomach...

Do not have diarehia (sp) or constipation. Am normal in that area. Just the bloating and pressure. He felt my abdomen while laying down alot and he said it was not hard and it sounded like gas.

Thank goodness all those tests came back OK, but that doesn't help with the bloating, does it?

Have you noticed more bloating after eating diary products? I wasn't always lactose intolerant and was surprised to learn that it can happen over time. The only other thing I can think of is an OB-Gyn issue. Have you had a pap test lately?

Yep. This past winter. All came back okay, except found a vaginal polyp. Had it removed, and checked. Was NOT cancerous.

It probably is something I eat. But the process of finding out is a PAIN. too.

I agree that searching for the food culprit is a pain, but it might not take long to find a pattern of foods that make the bloating worse.

*whew* Glad to hear that the gyne issue was negative!

I've had that problem for years. I take Phazyme every day (once or twice a day), but sometimes the problem persists and I have to take a stronger pain-killer (like now).

*sighs* Why is it that the people who need the most help don't get help at all?
