H. Plylori???

Hi There,
My best friend's husband was told he has H. Plylori today.
He's taking antibiotic. If his stomach still bothers him in
10 days he has to go back to get his stomach checked out.
I've never heard of this stomach infection. Is this a bad
one? Or, this can be cleared up quickly???? Thank you very
much for any feedback you may have. Hocky/NJ

Welcome Laura...I recognized your name from another board that I host, the Back & Neck Pain board. lol
H Pylori is easily treated with the correct medications and usually doesn't recur. Here is some info that you can share with your friend...http://health.ivillage.com/digestion/diulcers/0,,6fqr,00.html

<I recently had an h pylori infection. I did two 14 day antibiotic treatments and have been on nexium since I finished the second round (six weeks now). It took a few days before I felt any different, and I still have a way to go before I feel normal.
According to my doctor, H pylori usually clears up with antibiotics in most people. Once the infectioin is gone, the nexium is continuted as long as needed to allow the stomach to heal.
