Embarassing...

Hey everyone.
I gave birth almost 5 months ago and I had an episiotomy done. They had to do surgery on me as soon as my daughter was born. Surgery must have lasted for about a half hour or something like that.. anyway.. I have realized that a month and a half later I started having problems moving my bowels. Now in the past I was told by a doctor that I probably have IBS and yeah, I've always had constipation problems but NEVER EVER like this. It has come to the point where I won't go for weeks. Hard to believe. Anyway, I'm also experiencing a lot of gas pains but nothing passes. Sorry if tmi. You'd think I had to pass gas but instead just "air" comes out of me. I know when you have a baby everything is exposed and air can go inside you and especially with surgery but how long can this go on? Every day I'm in pain. It has abrupted my life in sooo many ways because I'm so uncomfortable. Again, I'm sorry if I'm being too personal here but I don't know where to tuyrn. Yes, before you ask I'm talking to my doctor about it but sometimes I don't trust doctors and I'd like to hear from other moms or even just someone who had surgery. Did this ever happen? And how long? I just can't deal with this pain any longer and it's pretty embarassing. It's to the point I don't want to be in anyone's company in fear something might happen, plus it's just so hard to bear with. Thanks for reading all of this TMI lol..Sorry.

Sometimes the things we find most embarrassing are difficult to talk about, but maybe one of our members will have some ideas for you. I wasn't blessed with kids, so cannot speak from experience about the specific surgery, but still think that 5 MONTHS is much too long to be having this issue.
Your doctor seems to be minimizing what is going on...not being able to 'go' for weeks is highly unacceptable! Have you tried adding fiber to your diet? I like Benefiber granules that can be added to anything. Drinking a lot of water also helps, plus eating fresh, raw vegetables and fruit. For some reason, apples help me...might be the pectin in them? I try to eat an apple every evening and more often than not, am able to go the next morning.
As for the passage of air, if it isn't coming from your stomach, there is no way that much air could have entered and stayed inside your abdomen for this long. What does your doctor say about this?
