Gee, this is kind of embarrassing. You would think after having two babies, with everything exposed to the world that not much would embarrass me. Anyway, I had my second baby 9 weeks ago. Almost 4 weeks ago I noticed that it hurts and I mean hurts (would rather go through natural child birth again) when I have a BM. It feels like I am giving birth out of my butt. There is some bleeding, but not much. Usually there is only blood the first time I wipe and there is maybe a quarter size amount, sometimes not even that much. And I should also mention that I have IBS, the big D (diahrrea) type.
So, I researched it and concluded that I have a fissure. I tried taking stool softener and it was getting better even though I was still in pain, the pain was lessening. Then on friday my IBS flared up. My theory was that diahrrea would better than me taking imodium to control it because imodium makes me constipated. Boy was I wrong. For two days I was so sore back there and since then the pain is horrible, just as bad as it was in the beginning. So, this weekend I started taking fiber pills on top of the stool softener and increasing my water. So far, it is just as bad. Today I started using sanitary wipes and dermaplast. I see my gyno tomorrow and as embarrassing as it is, I am going to talk about this with him.
TMI alert................One thing that I have noticed is for a few weeks now, that I am passing large BM's. Larger than I was before. Maybe that has something to do with my stomach recovering from being smashed because of the pregnancy? My first son was born february 2005 and I do not remember this happening. Has anyone gone through this and full recovered never to experience another fissure again? How long can it take for the fissure to heal? I am breastfeeding, does this have anything to do with it? Usually I am lucky if I get to eat anything twice a day and drink anything as well. Could this have anything to do with it?
It is bad enough I have IBS, but now this!? Since my son was born I have been suffering with PPD and this is defiently not helping :(

Sorry I wasn't able to respond sooner Jennifer, but glad you found us. What did your doctor suggest, since your message said you had an appointment and were going to ask about this?

I definitely think this could be a big part of why this is happening. Not so much breastfeeding itself, but not eating properly and probably not drinking enough water. Your body has a lot of healing to do from the pregnancy, plus is still being asked to put forth more than normal amounts of food and energy because of the breastfeeding.
