I'm new to this board. My name is Jamie and Im a 17 y/o guy. But my question is what goes on when you go to the doctor for Irritable Bowel Syndrome? I think I have it bc i match all the descriptions, but I'm deathly afraid of needles to the point of gettin sick when I see one and I'm so scared they will have to do blood work. Does anybody know the procedures?? Or if its absolutely necessary that my blood is taken?? Please post ASAP, my appoitment is tomorrow afternoon :[[
Thanks
Jamie

Welcome Jamie!
Since you are 17, we really cannot delve into too much with you and I am glad you are seeing your doctor! Please let us know what he/she suggests, OK?
As for blood tests and needles, I am like you. I get queasy and want to either faint, or throw up at the site of a syringe...guess what helps? Don't look or watch as blood is being drawn! You might want to mention that you have a higher than normal fear and need to be sure that whoever draws blood is VERY good at it.
Here is a good article with questions to ask your doctor...
