I also posted this in the celiac board, since that's where I normally post:

Last week, I saw a new GI. I was originally diagnosed with celiac almost 8 years ago with a gluten challenge and never bothered with any follow-up. My recovery from symptoms had been pretty dramatic. When I accidently ingest gluten, the return of acute symptoms is dramatic. Over the summer, I had some new symptoms come up, different from a gluten reaction, but bothersome enough to see the GI. The GI did a full celiac panel, suspecting that maybe I was getting cross contamination. I just got my results saying that there were no antibodies present. He suspects that I do not have celiac or gluten intolerance because he says that no patient is so perfect with their diet that there are NO antibodies present. What does this mean? I know that I get violently ill when I ingest gluten. I'm scheduled for an endoscopy and a colonoscopy next month, so he's still working on it. He suspects that I have Crohn's disease. Yes, it would explain some symptoms, but could Crohn's disease be affected by the GF diet?

Glad you found us Andrea!

I will need to do some research before I can give you an opinion. I have to agree with your new GI doc, who suspects that you don't have celiac or gluten intolerance. Not having ANY antibodies certainly has to be looked into further.

Well, after doing a lot of internet searching, it seems that wheat is a common trigger for Crohn's disease and eliminating wheat is commonly recommended. I wish I could have my scopes sooner, but I guess if it was life threatening, they would have found a way to get me in sooner ;)
