Hi! This is soo embarassing!! lol! Ok...I had my gallbladder removed over a month ago. Everything is back to normal except that this past week I didn't have a bowel movement (very constipated). So on Friday night I took a correctol laxative. It kicked in around 8:30 a.m. on the next day, Saturday. So I'm not used to taking laxatives. This is the 3rd time I've taken one. I had to travel Saturday night and of course the laxative was still working....so at the advice of my pharmacist I took a few pepto bismol caplets. Since then I've had very loose, soft stools that come with no warning...not quite diarrhea though. My question is, is this normal after taking a laxative?

Thanks,
Mandy

Welcome and please don't feel embarrassed. Digestive issues are a part of life and this is the place to talk and ask about problems.

How many Correctol pills did you take? Loose stools can be attributed to foods you eat. Have you started a food journal/diary, to see if certain foods cause this? Constipation can also be caused by certain foods, along with not drinking enough water.

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I only took one correctol. But something similar happened when I took a laxative after my gallbladder surgery. I really haven't eaten much b/c of the stomach trouble. And I haven't eaten anything different. So I think I'm going to give it a few days to see how it goes.
