Gall Bladder Post-Op Problems

This is my first time posting here and I really need some help soon. I had my Gall Bladder removed by Lap. November 13th. That night when I came home I had severe pain in my right side all night long.Went to see the surgeon, and he said it could be the gas they use for the surgery and for me to walk. He also gave me pain meds. It mainly hurts to take in a breath or even to yawn. I had a CT Scan with contrast last Tuesday, the 21st because of the pain still in my side. The scan didn't show anything. Well, here it is the 25th and I still have problems breathing especially getting a deep breath. Everytime I breath deeply or yawn it's like a knife sticking me in the right side. I had a drainage tube that was removed four days after surgery in that area also, but even the surgeon said this was not normal to be having this amount of pain. Also, I can't sleep on that side because it feels like I'm laying on something and it hurts allot. Please, if anyone can think of what might be causing this please post it. I really need to go back to work in a week or so as I used up all my sick leave. I will be going back to the surgeon on Tuesday. Thanks.

I'm so sorry you had to find us, but glad you did.

I wish I could offer some ideas, but cannot think of anything that might be causing your pain. Thank goodness your doctor is taking you seriously, although an answer has yet to be found.

Hopefully one of the other members will read this and offer some helpful ideas.

i've heard of people having bile leakage after a gb removal, it's supposed to be very painful, your surgeon should be able to talk to you about this...keep us posted

Hello and welcome. Sometimes when you have your gall bladder removed stones get left behind. If they have come free before you had your gall bladder removed they might still be there causing you pain. After a while stones can form again. Only they can't store in your gall bladder. My sister is going through this!! She says it is like having a gall bladder attack all over again. She had hers removed several years ago and hasn't changed the way she eats. Either way I think you should go back to the doc. He/She would know better than us.

Argg! So I did not have my surgery, and I got a second opinion. I had an endoscopy done, and it turns out I have one small and one medium gastric ulcer. I am treating them now. I also had a 2nd ultrasound done, and on this one no gb disease/stones/sludge were found! How is this possible when the 1st one says I have tons of them?? I am so fed up with doctors/tests right now I can scream. So while I am greatful that I caught my ulcers early on, I am still completely at a loss as to my original problem...i.e. do i or do i not need to have my gb removed? Is it diseased or not????

Isn't that something!! You would think they would be able to pin point it for you.
