Gallbladder issue? HIDA scan

I have some questions.

For about 3 weeks now I have been having tummy issues. My stomach feels like it is on fire...especially after eating. Once I eat, it hurts for the rest of the day, and I experience nausea. No matter what I eat...super bland stuff too, everything bothers me. I've also been having some pain on the right side of my stomach. My doctor says that he thinks its either an ulcer or a gallbladder issue. Well, I had an ultrasound, which showed everything is normal. No ulcer, no gallstones.

Now he is sending me off for a HIDA scan. What are the chances of this showing anything wrong with my gallbladder, since the ultrasound showed up normal?

Also, does anyone have a "magic bullet" to get rid of this burning in my tummy? Besides not eating? I've been on Prilosec, took Nexium for a few days, and now I'm trying AciPhex. Also, a steady stream of Tums.

First of all, glad you found us, although tummy pain isn't the best way to meet.

Here is some info about a HIDA scan that may help...

The HIDA scan will show if there is something causing a blockage. It is done to test the inner working of the gallbladder, which the ultrasound may have missed, since the HIDA will show the material as it goes through the ducts.

I'm sorry, but I have no magic bullet for you. I hope the scan is being done asap and something is determined quickly. Keep us updated and feel free to visit anytime!

You sound exactly like me 4 months ago. Listen to your doctor. My ultrasound was negative as well. After a CAT scan and a HIDA, they discovered that my gall bladder was only functioning at 8%. When they removed it, it was turning into scar tissue. Recovery time is minimal, although 2 months later I can still "feel" where they removed it. It's weird but not painful. If the doctors tell you that you have gall stones and/or sludge, please exhaust all natural remedies before having it removed. Liver/gall bladder cleansings are very effective for stones and toxicity. If they tell you that your gall bladder is functioning at less than 30%, you have no choice but to have it removed. There are some foods I am sensitive to now, but that is outweighed by the feelings of physical euphoria I experience. I feel fantastic!

I in the past have suffered some severe gall bladder attacks, as well I have acid reflux. My gall bladder attacks were not a burning pain just a constant pain under on my right side. I guess everyone is different but the burning sounds more like GERD to me. My acid reflux is settled down and I still have my gall bladder. Have only had one attack in a year and a half. I changed my diet and am taking some natural supplements that have helped so much. Take care.Let us know what the doctor says.
