Hello...I am new to this board-In late october, I started having almost constant burning in my throat-my md rx'ed tagamet, which helped but did not eliminate. I am now off of it (since early Dec) and trying natural remedies (acupuncture, herbs, probiotics, enzymes). My symptoms are very minor however I still have a sore throat at times, minor burning. My md did give me a referral to a GI doc if my sypmtoms don't continue to improve. I should also say I am under a lot of stress as I recently started a small business.
I am scared of the sudden onset of this, however I have always had sore throats off/on, but always thought it was allergies-maybe not?
I am 40 years old, not at all overweight, don't smoke or drink, so not sure why I have these symptions. I keep reading about cancer etc, and am really frightened to have to see a GI specialist for scary tests!!
I would appreciate any advice, thanks so much and Happy Holidays!!!

I wanted to give you a proper welcome, although I need to be getting dressed to leave soon. lol Christmas Eve is when my family gathers for our big meal and celebration.

I will return tomorrow, but wanted to suggest to you that seeing a GI specialist doesn't mean something bad is happening. A specialist is trained to look for things that a 'regular' doctor might miss. He/she can order tests that a general MD probably wouldn't think of, so please make that appointment and put your mind to rest. Wouldn't it be much better to find a cause now, before permanent damage is done, or you have a bigger issue to deal with?

I know that tests aren't pleasant, but better to find the cause of your discomfort now, right?

Have a wonderful Holiday and please visit anytime!
