Hi...I am a newbie and posted a few days ago, and took the CL's advice and made an appt. with the GI specialist my MD referred me to-however they cannot see me until Feb 5! I am going nutty thinking some thing is seriously wrong. Can those of you who have experience with acid reflux/heartburn give me some insight? I notice an increase of symptoms when I am stressed, and was delighted to have no symptoms for the past 2 days, then wham, back to my business, back to burning in my throat-I rarely experience this in my chest (maybe 1-2 times). I have had this since October. Thanks for any support!! I really appreicate it, and sorry to be so needy :)

I am so happy that you made the appointment. Does this office have a cancellation list? Some have one...you have your name added and if someone cancels, you'll be called before that February appointment date. It is worth trying, if you haven't done so already.

What OTC products have you tried so far? Have you tried raising the head of your bed? That helps many people keep acid from getting into the esophagus.

You are not being needy at all. Anytime we face something new and unfamiliar, it raises stress levels and that's what this board is for; to help answer questions and try to keep you calm(er). Post as often as you need to and ask as many questions too...the only 'dumb' questions are the ones never asked.

Thank you Elise.....I have tried using more pillows to elevate my head, and, have mostly tried homopathics as well as 2 acupuncture sessions-these seem to help some, but temporarily. My MD had me on tagamet for 2 mos, which helped, but did not get rid of the problem. I have quit coffee, tea(black) and chocolate-and I LOVE those things, so this sucks!! ha
I tried a remedy I got from whole foods yesterday that is actually helping-it's derived from orange peel, which appareanlty does something to the gastric motility-

who knows.....i am trying to drink more water;that helps, as well as keeping up the probiotics. the weird thing is, i don't drink, smoke, not overweight, so i don't know whay this is occuring. i did just turn 40,so maybe that's it!
Thanks for the help and support....i'll keep popping in to see if more folks post about this.
Take care and Happy New Year!

Hey Choco? 1st step is Calm Down !..i am not going to say this is what it could be ect: But Just from your Post i see your Ansious and i think Anxiety might have a say in your symptoms, and Anxiety can creat Havic in your GI System, But Altho ? if your Gi Drs suggest having a Endoscopy done? go for it !! thats a start , thats where i started..2ndly? they'll Probabley do a Biopsy test you'll never feel it...so i was diagnosed with H.PYLORI which is a bad Bacterial disease in your stomach area and?..cause's chronic Pain from time to time ..treatment for that was a PREVPAC which is 1 anti acid medication 2xs day along with 2 antibiotics 2x's day for 14 day's ...in the worse case seniro could be gallstones , Gallstones can creat havic in you GI System as far as to your heart and make you feel like your having a heart attack daily,So thus Far its a step by step Process between you and your Dr or even drs ..And your not alone!! when you know your not alone in all this health issues?..it can make a world of difference as i have learned, and i go see a General surgeon to have my Gallbladder removed on 1/08/07 and? i cant wait and?..im hoping that is the case why i have these Pains in the surrounding areas stomach, lower back shoulder blade all to the left side i ahve it now as i sit here and type this message and it realy Bites and its annoying but? just knowing what it is and can be treated is a sign of reliefe...Barr

Hi Barr-thanks for the reply....I feel for you! but wish you luck with your procedure. I actually am much improved-I began a supplement for heartburn and digestive enzymes from my nutritionist, and have not had heartburd or acid reflux in a week. I may even put off my appointment if I continue to be normal. I did wonder about the h.pylori, but, since I have no symptoms right now, I am thinking not?
i would love any thoughts you have......thanks so much and take care!
