new here, liver & gallbladder problems

okay my liver function test was elevated, dr sent me for an ultrasound, and it showed
that my liver is fatty (once again) and this time my gallbladder has thickening. The
Dr. referred me to a gastro (spell ?) specialist and the appointment is not until
MARCH 1. **frown**
does anyone know anything about these issues, what causes the fatty liver, and gallbladder troubles. Is it possible that surgery is in the future for me? The
Drs never told me WHAT was causing the liver trouble...
any help is appreciated.
thanks

Welcome, although I am sorry you needed to seek us out. Hopefully I can allay some of your concerns.
Here is some info that might help...

Can you call the Gastro Drs. office and ask to be put on a cancellation list? If someone calls and cancels an appointment, you may be called sooner that way.
You mentioned

<Funny you should you asked the question -
Do you know what caused this before and what was done to correct it at that time?
No, the Drs. just dropped the condition once my liver function test was within
normal - they had no explanation at all! And here I am again with the same thing
and now the gallbadder is involved. And also I wanted to note that I was put
on the cancelation list - eating is not to much fun now, pain after eating
makes me wish that I didn't eat... wish me luck... thanks for the information

Were you put on any medication, or asked to avoid anything? How often were LFT done, in between the time the problem showed up and was then resolved?
This time, ask questions and insist on an explanation! We are responsible for getting answers and can only learn by asking. You are the 'customer' and the doctor works for you...you have every right to know what is being done to your body, why and what the ultimate results might be. If you ever feel that something isn't being explained well, ask again.
