Is this kind of thing not normal?

Hi, I was just wondering if what I deal with is really as bad as I see it or if it's semi-normal.
I see my friends going out all the time, they are always up for a good time, now for me that's not the case. I would love to go out more and have fun with them but my stomach problems/anxiety prevents me. I tend to have gas a lot, and I've been aware of this for a while so I've tried to eliminate foods that cause it. Most times when I have to go somewhere like class or to a friends house, my stomach starts hurting and have to go to the bathroom. It just seems like when I'm in public my stomach always hurts and most the time I have to use the bathroom.
So when I see my friends going out, they seem to never have gas problems or problems like me, they always look comfortable and like they're feeling well.
I take fiber supplements (Citrucel) and usually go to the bathroom every morning, but I can't figure out what to do.
I'm going to start seeing a doctor about my anxieties, maybe this will help.
I really just want to know what's normal, do most people have gas a lot? And what do they do when they have it?
Thank you!

Glad you found us!
What you described could be partly anxiety, so seeing your doctor about that is a good idea. Have you ever started a food journal/diary, to see if a pattern of specific foods causes the most problems for you? Could lactose intolerance be playing a role?
Here is an article that might help, plus will lead you to many other articles of interest!
