Norvasc for Stomach problems

I am having cramps, burning sensation in stomach and irritation in the middle of my chest. The symptoms starts 2-3 hrs after meal. Very less symptoms when I am on a 0 carb, 0 fat diet. Basically, my stomach couldn’t hold even a little bit of gas. I went to ER and they did an X-ray, blood work and found no problems except high total Bilirubin (2.06) level. So they prescribed me with Protonix. I took it for 2 weeks and found no improvement. So I consulted a GI doctor. He recommended a CT scan with barium and the results were negative. So he ended up doing endoscopy and the results were normal. But, my biopsy results showed that I have H.Pylori infection. Also, it was confirmed by doing a breath test. So, I was treated with PrevPac for 14 days. But, I still have the same symptoms, in fact worse than I had before. I followed up with my GI doctor after 4 weeks and discussed about the symptoms. Now, he think that the symptoms could be because of a Spasm in stomach. So he prescribed me with Norvasc ( used for treating high BP). This really concerns me. Because, I never had any issues like a high BP or chest pain and etc. What should I do in a situation like this? I am hesitated to start taking the drug. I am stuck with this problem for the past 4 months. Any help or suggestion is really appreciated. Thanks. BTW, what is a stomach spasm?

Many times medications are Rx'd for treatments other than what the drug was originally created for. This happens more often than most people realize, but after checking this particular drug, I couldn't find any related reason for you to be taking it. I suggest that you call and ask your pharmacist his/her opinion, then call and ask the doctor in the morning. Mistakes are made and better to be safe and ask questions now.
