Bright Red Blood in Feces

My boyfriend recently told me he has been pooping blood and mucus along with his regular bowel movements for a couple of weeks now. He doesn't have stomach aches at all, but has been particularly tired reguardless of how much sleep or exercise he is getting. he has been a vegan for 7 years now and doesn't eat a very large variety of foods. 9 times out of 10 his throat itches and he get congested after he eats and his nose is always running. I suspect that he has developed food allergies (many of our other vegan friends have), but could it be something much more serious? He doesn't have health insurance right now, is this something we should worry about?

Your boyfriend is probably feeling so poorly because there is a good chance that he is bleeding internally. He needs to see a doctor and if he is uninsured, you'll need to find a clinic. Here is a link to some excellent information...
