Upper left abdominal pain

Hello,

I have been having abdominal pain on and off for a few months now. Been on ranitidine, prilosec, mylanta. But it keeps coming and going. Now it feels like a pain usually in my upper abdominal area and to the left, where the rib cage meets and slightly to the left. I am so worried it's something very serious. Does abdominal pain that is persistent always mean it's something serious? Is it more likely something treatable? I am very anxious! I have an appt this afternoon with my doc. Hope she runs test or sends me to a GI specialist. Thank you for reading this.

I apologize for not getting to your post sooner. I had some health issues of my own to deal with.

What did you learn at your Dr. appointment? Was costochondritis brought up as a possibility? Here is a link to some costochondritis info...see if it sounds at all like what you are feeling...

I have that same problem. My doctor said it is spastic colon also know as irritable bowel syndrome. It can be quite painful and annoying since it comes up out of no where. He prescribed me Levsin. A small tiny blue pill that you disolve under your tongue. It takes about 30 mins to work and you would not believe the relief it has brought me. Hope this helps.
