Constantly feel sick

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone has had similar symtoms to mine. For months I have a lot of problems with my stomach. I never get really sick, but I feel nauseous a lot of the time. I saw my doctor, and she did not give me much time and said it was probably IBS. I feel like she was just guessing and didn't really care.

My pain is usually on the upper left side of my abdomen, but sometimes it's on the right too. I also feel very tired and sometimes dizzy. I have to force myself to eat most of the time.

I have been stressed out from work, so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it. I'm sick of feeling like this, though. I just want to be myself again!

Has anyone else ever felt this way??

Thanks!

Hello!

I posted below yours about upper left abdominal pain. I, too, have been plagued with stomach pains for months now. Have gone back and forth to the doc. Had bloodwork and abdominal ultrasound. Nothing unusual. But I am so sick of being in pain and worrying constantly about my health. The pain can last for hours sometimes and then finally subside. Then I won't have pain for a few days or weeks and back it comes. I am also under quite a bit of stress so I'm sure that contributes to this. Just wanted you to know that I feel your pain. I have an appt AGAIN with my doctor in a few min. I'm going to ask her to refer me to a GI or run more tests so we can get to the bottom of this. I'm just so sick and tired of being sick and tired. Hope you find the source of your pain too.

Thanks for your response. I hope you found out what is going on.
I've had bloodwork and everything done, too. It's getting to the point where I'm embarassed to call my doctor again. I think he thinks I'm just a hypochondriac. If things don't change I will have to go back again I guess.

Good Luck!

my 15 year old daughter has the same problem, I took her to the ER they ran all kinds of tests, it ends up she was blocked in her upper intestine, she was to take fiber pills every day and dulcolax everyday. of course getting her to remember was like pulling teeth. so we had a follow up with her primary physician and she put her on a powder medication (laxative of some sort) for the next 6 weeks so she would be regular, and after the 6 weeks if the pain does not subside then she will have some tests ran ie upper GI etc... hope this helps. She has felt the same you do.

I'm so sorry about your problem. I do not like the way your doctor dismisses your problems with "guesses" as to the diagnosis.
I strongly recommend you get a 2nd opinion. And if not satisfied, a 3rd opinion, a 4th opinion, etc. with different doctors.
You must get to the bottom of your problem.
I am sick and tired of doctors just guessing what your problem might be and not attempting to solve the problem to the best of their ability.
Honey, please get a new doctor, a new set of 'eyes'. Good luck!!

I am so new at this messageboard stuff- if I do it wrong please anyone help! Anyhow, regarding feeling sick all of the time. I noted two people complaining of these symptoms mentioned stress. I suggest you have your thyroid function checked first. Have your doc check your T3, T4, and TSH. Do some searching on secondary hypothyroidism. Many docs just check the TSH. In secondary hypo, the TSH will be in the normal to low-normal range, but the deciding factor will be the T4, which will be very low. Also, have your cortisol level checked and do some searching on adrenal fatigue, which happens when our stress response sort of gets stuck in overdrive as a result of dealing with way more stress than we are designed to tolerate. In a related note- I have started a blog on my new site that is directly related to this topic. Apparently, though, I don't know how to do the blog thing either, because the only response I have is one that I put in myself to see if it worked! Maybe someone can help me on that front! Anyway, the biggest obstacle sometimes is finding a doc who doesn't have an impossible ego, and will listen to what you have to say. I suffered with a similar condition, mostly because my doc looked in every direction but the one I suggested BECAUSE it was my suggestion. I hit the road, and found a doc with a brain. I feel like I've been brought out of a coma! Good luck!

i have the exact same thing

I have been ill for 10months now with the sypmtoms you discribed. I'm 16 and it has compleatly ruined my education. The doctorsjust tell me that it's all in my mind and i am 'depressed' but if i am depressed it's because i have had constant nausea for 10months!!

I also find that i get tired alot, and the simplest things can ware me out andleave me feeling like my body is so heavy

I also feel like i have changed. My friends can't remeber what i used to be like. I used to be constantly on the go and did so many things. Now i just sleep or sit at home trying to find something to do.

I get dizzy alot too. Especially when i stand up. I have also lost 2 stone from not eating as it hurts so much when i do, so people think im annorexic, which im not!!!

How do you deal with it?
is good to know im not alone:)

Glad you found us Laura, although I am so sorry you are feeling so poorly.

Since you are only 16, I do hope that your parents have been involved in your medical care. What do they think of what the doctor has said about this being all in your mind? Losing 2 stone (about 28 pounds, for those of us not using metrics), that is a lot of weight to lose! Have you checked out the links I provided already, about nausea?

Hi Laura,

I haven't really found any way to deal with it. I'm going to the doctor on Friday, so hopefully I find something out then.

I read that peppermint tea helps soothe your stomach... I tried it and it wasnt a cure, but it did help somewhat. It tastes pretty good, too!

I hope you feel better soon!!
