Constantly feel sick
| Thu, 03-01-2007 - 12:49pm |
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone has had similar symtoms to mine. For months I have a lot of problems with my stomach. I never get really sick, but I feel nauseous a lot of the time. I saw my doctor, and she did not give me much time and said it was probably IBS. I feel like she was just guessing and didn't really care.
My pain is usually on the upper left side of my abdomen, but sometimes it's on the right too. I also feel very tired and sometimes dizzy. I have to force myself to eat most of the time.
I have been stressed out from work, so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it. I'm sick of feeling like this, though. I just want to be myself again!
Has anyone else ever felt this way??
Thanks!

Hello!
I posted below yours about upper left abdominal pain. I, too, have been plagued with stomach pains for months now. Have gone back and forth to the doc. Had bloodwork and abdominal ultrasound. Nothing unusual. But I am so sick of being in pain and worrying constantly about my health. The pain can last for hours sometimes and then finally subside. Then I won't have pain for a few days or weeks and back it comes. I am also under quite a bit of stress so I'm sure that contributes to this. Just wanted you to know that I feel your pain. I have an appt AGAIN with my doctor in a few min. I'm going to ask her to refer me to a GI or run more tests so we can get to the bottom of this. I'm just so sick and tired of being sick and tired. Hope you find the source of your pain too.
Gigi
Thanks for your response. I hope you found out what is going on.
I've had bloodwork and everything done, too. It's getting to the point where I'm embarassed to call my doctor again. I think he thinks I'm just a hypochondriac. If things don't change I will have to go back again I guess.
Good Luck!
Welcome!
Here is some information that might guide you and give you some questions to ask your doctor.

<I strongly recommend you get a 2nd opinion. And if not satisfied, a 3rd opinion, a 4th opinion, etc. with different doctors.
You must get to the bottom of your problem.
I am sick and tired of doctors just guessing what your problem might be and not attempting to solve the problem to the best of their ability.
Honey, please get a new doctor, a new set of 'eyes'. Good luck!!

i have the exact same thing
I have been ill for 10months now with the sypmtoms you discribed. I'm 16 and it has compleatly ruined my education. The doctorsjust tell me that it's all in my mind and i am 'depressed' but if i am depressed it's because i have had constant nausea for 10months!!
I also find that i get tired alot, and the simplest things can ware me out andleave me feeling like my body is so heavy
I also feel like i have changed. My friends can't remeber what i used to be like. I used to be constantly on the go and did so many things. Now i just sleep or sit at home trying to find something to do.
I get dizzy alot too. Especially when i stand up. I have also lost 2 stone from not eating as it hurts so much when i do, so people think im annorexic, which im not!!!
How do you deal with it?
is good to know im not alone:)

Glad you found us Laura, although I am so sorry you are feeling so poorly.
Since you are only 16, I do hope that your parents have been involved in your medical care. What do they think of what the doctor has said about this being all in your mind? Losing 2 stone (about 28 pounds, for those of us not using metrics), that is a lot of weight to lose! Have you checked out the links I provided already, about nausea?

<Hi Laura,
I haven't really found any way to deal with it. I'm going to the doctor on Friday, so hopefully I find something out then.
I read that peppermint tea helps soothe your stomach... I tried it and it wasnt a cure, but it did help somewhat. It tastes pretty good, too!
I hope you feel better soon!!
well good luck on friday!!
Yeah i have got addicted to peppermint tea too. I got told that it might help me, but it never did, but then i got addicted to the taste.
sorry i haven't replyed sooner, i have had so much coursework to catch up on, and i can't do it very quickly as my concentration levels are low :(
I hope you feel better soon too
