Hi there
I just found this board, and wanted to ask a question.
I am 25, have had serious pain in my stomach for a while now. (Pretty much started around September of last year) At first I could not stomach any alcohol at all, or else I would be puking my guts up. I went and saw my Dr, who said I had acid reflux, she have me Prevacid and I took that for 14 days. (Two a day) It worked great for a while but....
Now the pain is back, the burning sensation in my stomach like I am STARVING!!! But, its when I'm not starving. I cant lay on one side in bed, or else my guts feel like there burning. I'm having a bit of shortness of breath, for the past 3 days or so(over the holiday weekend) I had 3 beer on Friday night, came home and got sick. I wasn't even drunk, or buzzed.
I went to see the pharmacist today, as my Dr is not in, who told me to try Zantac, which I took two. That was almost an hour ago and the shortness of breath hasnt gone away.
I'm trying not to freak here, but some breaths feel SOOOOO hard to breath...I've had a panic attack once, about 2 years ago and am trying to not let that happen again. And I'm stuck at work, and can't leave cause my bosses are all out...
Help!!
Heather
ETA - I called a helpline and the nurse advised me to go to the ER within 4 hours. I have an hour to wait and then I am leaving.

I'm interested to hear what the doc had to say. I'm guessing they'll suggest you avoid all alcoholic beverages for some time as well as watching what you eat. Have you tried keeping a food diary to see if something else may be contributing? It could be something like fruit or even donuts. Some people have a pretty bad reaction to carbs, I know I do!
Welcome Heather!
Did you go to the ER? What was suggested?
If the Prevacid helped before, why didn't you return to your doctor and let her know?
Beanygurl had some good suggestions (thanks Beany!); have you considered keeping a food journal? Here is some info that you might find helpful too...
