This is my first time on this board. I have been looking at them for a while and decided to try to get some advice from you. Over a year ago I was diagnosed with a gallstone. At the time, it only bothered my occassionally. Lately it has been increasingly worse. I consulted with my doctor who said it was too soon to have developed a new stone and that rather than getting another ultrasound she sent me for a HIDA scan. That came back fine. I have been watching my diet (somewhat) but the pain lately is still in my upper right stomach as well as lately it has been in my back under my right shoulder blade. This pain comes and goes as well as the pain in my stomach. I have made an appointment with a surgeon but that is not until May 3rd. The pain in my back is new for me and is rather painful. I have already been to the emergency roon on March 3rd and my blood tests for infection were fine. They gave me a prescription for Vicodin and told me to talk to a surgeon. As I stated, my dr. sent me for the HIDA scan on March 22nd and that was normal. The week after I went to Florida and I have to admit, I ate alot of crap!!! It didn't bother me at all!! But for the last few days, this has been really bothering me and is scaring me. Also, I had a bowel movement today that was an army green color. I am really scared and have never had a surgery but will have it if the surgeon says I should. My question is should I be going to the ER for this new pain?? I have no other symtoms such as jaundice or vomiting just the shooting pain and the green BM. HELP!!!!

My dad is 73 and has gall stones and had to have three different scopes done to get them all out. He had 11 of them and they say he needs to get the gall bladder out before he gets more stones. They said ASAP but he has had the flu for a week now that he is over that am hoping to get him in for his consoltaion and then the surgery before he gets more stones. Good luck. I do find these Dr.s like to take there time about things.

Yeah they do like to take their time don't they??? That is too bad about your father. I know how much pain he must be in. My consultation isn't until May 3rd and then I am sure it will take a few more weeks for the surgery. I can deal with the pain, it is the possibility that my gallbladder may become infected or a stone may get into a duct that has me concerned. I am watching what I eat and have been losing so much weight ( which isn't a bad thing). I just am not sure when this pain is serious enough to warrant going to the ER again. I tend to think I am developing more stones but for some reason my doctor doesn't agree. She said a year is not enough time to develop new ones??? Good luck to your dad, I will be praying for him!!

My dad's stones got into the duct and once there they will not take out the gall bladder until all the stones our out. It took my dad 3 seperate scopes done. He was all orange. he was even peeing orange before they would take this as something important. Take care
