Barrets esph. and stomach pain

I have had Barrets esph. and it returns ....I have had it "burned out" on several occasions......I take RX's to keep the acid down....BUT...I also have severe pain in my leg...I have had two back surgeries and have metal pins in my spine and I also have a metal plate in the front of my neck from an accident.....
also, I have a severe pain in my ribs....unknown cause...that goes around to the back and also starts in the front of my rib area and a "sharp" pain goes straight to my back ribs...unknown again...and should pain on the same side....
My doctor,PCP, REFUSES to give me any strong RX's for the pain and always wants to give me NAIDS....well, problem is, they make my stomach hurt like h_ll......I ended up in a walk-in clinic last Sunday from the pain of taking such drugs....the dr. there thought the chest..ie:stomach pain was a heart attack....ran tests and NO it was not and he agreed I was correct with saying it came from my stomach...caused by the NAIDS....
I just don't know what to do....I can't exist without stronger RX's that will kill the pain in my body without destroying my stomach......Why can't dr's understand this?
I have had strong not NAIDS in the past that did not upset my stomach.....I do like my PCP but I am about to scream because he can't grasp my problems......and prescribe the strong mds I need that are NOT NAIDS.....
Any advice in Houston,Texas of someone or somewhere that they will "get it"?

Also....can ideas what the rib pain is.....???? I have had x-rays ....Catscan...and they show nothing.....is there "something" else in that general area that could cause the pain...I had celulitis a few years back....and one test did show...axilliary lymp node was "marginal"....whatever that means.....Mamogram showed nothing as well....that rib pain is driving me nuts....I take Neurotin...and sometimes I think it helps at other times I don't think it does....my shoulder hurts as well and down my arm into my hand....

Someone,PLEASE.....any advice would be helpful...
Thanks

Hello and welcome! I already posted to you in another area, but wanted to address your concerns here again.

About the message saying your message wasn't posted....the techs are aware of certain problems and are trying to fix the 'kinks'.

Your rib pain might be the result of costochondritis; check out this info...

I addressed your concerns about not getting proper pain control in another area. Your PCP may have Rx'd a better medication for short term use, but most will NOT Rx narcotics for chronic pain. You need to make an appointment to see a pain management type doctor. The one I see is an anesthesiologist and has helped me for the past 3 years.

Thanks for the reply......I see my PCP this week ....it is really strange....I have so many things going on...and some days are OKAY...I worked in the yard for about ten hours yesterday.....with the help of meds.....but then today I feel awful and not related to the yard work......my thyroid is removed and I am on meds for that....I just don't know, I go to bed and have great plans for the next day...but it just depends....I never know what will be......I take lots of vitamins and I really really believe they can make a difference.....thanks again......

I also take many supplements and feel that they do help. My dh is the 'vitamin king' and we sometimes disagree about some of the things he wants me to take. lol I have my own stuff that I feel help me and try to keep my opinion to myself about some of his stuff. I dislike when he orders things for me and then gets upset when I refuse to take them.

Maybe spending 10 hours doing yard work is too much? I know that I always have grandiose plans, but am pretty good about breaking up my day. I love being outdoors too and need to start getting my garden ready, but have had some back issues that are keeping me from starting. Like you, I want to do everything in a day and am staying busy with indoor projects for now.

As I said earlier, PCP's aren't going to Rx long-term, maintenance pain control. A pain management doctor is your best choice for that. Good luck and please keep me updated, OK?

Thanks for the reply......dr's are strange sometimes....most don't get it....my dream would be to find an older dr. who had experienced REAL pain.....they may understand...
I will keep in touch and you do the same....Good luck....
I love my vitamins...and I hear there are plans in the works to have the government regulate those.....as well as RX's.....that will be awful.....but I fear..it is coming...
