Hi, I am 4 weeks postpartum and I am scheduled to have my gallbladder removed on Monday morning. I was wondering if anyone else on here has had GB surgery so soon after having a baby. I know the surgeon said he has a lot of patients who develop gallstones while pregnant and that they usually have them removed soon after birth. I am just curious how it went for any moms here who had their GB out? They said I can go home the same day and I hope that is true because I am very sad about being away from my son. I am also concerned cause I am breastfeeding and he doesn't like taking pumped milk from a bottle at all.
For those of you who have had GB surgery (postpartum or just in general) how was the recovery time. Where you in pain for a long time? How long did you have to take meds for? They said the meds would be ok with breast feeding because they are the same that they give to post c-section moms and it is ok for them to breast feed right away, but I still would like to be off the meds ASAP. How long was it before you felt ok to go for walks, drive, pick things up (like an 8lb baby), etc?
Any advice would be appreciated.

AND Congratulations on having a baby!
I was not blessed with kids and my gallbladder was removed a long time ago, but I was fortunate that my surgeon did the laparoscopy-type procedure. Did your surgeon tell you which type he/she plans to do? They always mention that open surgery might be used, if necessary, but if the lap surgery is done, the pain won't be all that bad.

<I hope that your surgery went well - sorry for seeing your post sooner.
I don't have children - but I have had my GB removed. The surgery was done laproscopically (?Spelling). I went home the same day and felt like I'd been hit by a dump truck for about 2 days. The surgery was on a Thursday and I was back at a desk job on the Monday.
I think I was told not to lift anything heavier than 10 lbs for 2 weeks and to skip the bellydancing classes I was taking at the time for a 2 week period.
I was very bloated for a what seemed like forever. For the first week I could only wear elastic pants. I was actually bumping in to things with my belly. People told me I looked 6 months pregnant (I have a small slim frame
