I have really bad bubbling, rumbling, and gassy feelings going on in my belly..not to mention the discomfort here and there. I have mussy stools a couple of times a day. I don't know what it is like to have a normal BM. I have gone to the doctor and they said try more fiber in diet. This doesn't help, he is know sending me to have a colonscopy done and I am very nervous. I read a lot on the internet and I worry about Crohn's, Colitis, Cancer and much more. There have been two occassions this year where I wake up in the middle of the night with pain behind my belly button that will last a couple of hours and turn into a dull ache for the rest of the day. I am not sure what causes the pain. I do have hemmoroids that have not completely gone away since I gave birth a year ago, but they don't bother me. I sometimes wonder if they are inside. I had bleeding once but I know it was from my hemmoroids. I don't feel fatigue, weak, sick and it doesn't keep me from doing anything. I had blood work done and everything is ok. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Does it seem serious? Can someone who had a colonscopy tell me about it?
Thanks,
Tara

Welcome Tara! I am sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I wasn't able to be here as much as I'd like to be.
Here is some information that you might find helpful...

Another possibility is that your problem is gynecological in nature. Have you seen your Gyne lately?

<I realize by now you have likely already had your colonoscopy and have your diagnosis...but if not...it sounds as though it may be colitis.
I had the same symptoms for over a year before I had a colonoscopy to diagnose my condition. I had no visible ulcers or polyps so they took a biopsy to diagnose Collagenous (microscopic) Colitis. That was about 8 years ago.
I was sad to learn that there is no cure and that it is something I will have for the rest of my life. Basically, the body...maybe due to the auto-immune system (though they don't know for sure what causes it)...produces too much collagen. It makes the colon smooth and not as ribbed so the body doesn't absorb nutrients well or digest food properly. The pain or cramping is caused by inflammation of the colon. The bloating and gas and bubbling is due to poor digestion of food as it passes through your system.
About all they tell you is to treat the symptoms with medication and to change your diet.
If you're like me...you may experience a few months every now and then when you have no symptoms. I thought I was over it until my doctor said that sometimes the condition waxes and wains...so you're not over it...but you do learn to really appreciate those months when the symptoms subside or go away...only to have them rage when they come back.
I hope you finally found out what was wrong or that you have something else that can actually be cured or treated better.
good luck!
