I am new at this whole message posting thing but I need some advise and quick. I have a 3 year old little girl who has been very sick. This all started on 5/17/2007 when she started haveing fever. The doctors said that it was probibly a virus and sent her home on an antibiotic. After that she had fever every day for 3 weeks I was continusly calling the doctor and was being told that this was something that just had to run it's corse. Finaly on the 5th of this month I decided that I was not going to take them putting me off any more. I whent to the doctor and demanded that they see my little girl she was runnuing a fever at that time of 104.7 and I could barely keep her awake. The doctor checked her for the common things like ear infection, strep throat, and respatory infection all of witch came back fine. The doctor decided to admit her to the childrens hospital. At the hospital they ran hindreds of tests to try to find what was wrong with her all the tests showed that she was healthy. On the third day of her being at the hospital something new happend she started having horiable loose stools and was bleeding when she pooed. This made them do a cat scan that showed that she had a swolen colon. They started her on a very strong antiboiotic called Faguel hoping that it was some sort of bactira infection of the digestive tract even though all the tests for that had allready come back negitive. They decided to take it a step futher and do a colon oscopy. During that scope they found that her colon was indeed swolen and very raw on the inside. But it was still unclear what was causing this. They did give me a copy of the pictures that were taken during this scope and to me there seems to be little blisters as well as it being raw and bloody. The GI doctor took 12 difrent tissue samples and said that he would be doing some biopsys on them.
They decided that since they really could not find anything to treat that they would just send her home taking Flaguel, zantac. Since she was released things have not gotten any better (they have not gotten any worse either). She still has been having a fever more so in the evening and is still pooing blood she is constantly complaining that her tummy hurts. It breaks my heart. I took her to her follow up apointment today to find that she has lost 4.7 lbs in the past two weeks. The results of the biopsy still have not come back and they are still no closer to comeing up with a diagnosis they made a second follow up apointment for one more week after doing some blood work to make sure she was not anemic and telling me to increase he calorie intake by giveing a can of pediashure inbetween every meal.
I am getting so frusterated. There is surely something wrong with my little girl she has had fever for over a month and has been bleeding for two weeks and knowbody seems to think this is a big deal. I have run out of questions to ask and I don't have any background on this. I feel so helpless. I am hoping that someone out there has some clue what is going on. Someone can give me advise on what I should be doing to help my baby. Please help.

Welcome, I am sorry that your little girl is so sick. It does sound like the doctor's are doing everything possible, as they try to figure out the cause of her problems. I can only imagine your frustration, as you watch your daughter! We always want faster results than we are given and it has to be even worse as you try to find answers for your little one.

The medication may take a while to help her. You spelled it two different ways within your message, but what I found for Flaguel shows it to be an antibiotic. They always take awhile to work their way into the system. I imagine that your patience is pretty much gone by now, but it does sound like she is getting the best possible care.

Your daughter has been tested for many things, biopsy results are hopefully going to be ready soon and she is on medication. Most medical professionals are able to keep their personal feelings tucked away, so that they can do their job. Not seeing them running around and showing outward signs of caring doesn't mean that they don't care!

Please keep me updated on your daughter's condition and what the biopsy results suggest, OK?
