My DB has had this done, due to infection and surgical errors. After 12 weeks in intensive care, he went home a few weeks ago. His ongoing problem now is potassium levels dropping dangerously low and adrenal glands possibly failing. As we don't live near enough for me to learn more about the condition, I was wondering if anyone has a good link on the Internet. Also wondering why he can't monitor his potassium levels at home, the way diabetics test their blood regularly.

Welcome, I am so sorry that your DB is ill and you cannot be there to assist him. Extra stress isn't good for you, so you do need to remember to continue taking good care of yourself.
Here is some information about Addison's disease, which is the name for adrenal failure...

Has his doctor put him on any potassium supplements? The low potassium levels seem to be connected to the surgery and poor health in general. Here is some information I was able to find...

Let me know if I can help you search for any other information and please keep me updated on your DB's progress, OK?
