hida scan

Hi,
I have 2 questions...
1. Does anyone know why when I had my HIDA scan it hurt very badly, and made me SUPER sick? I was told that it would not hurt, and that throwing up is not a normal side effect of CCK, but thats all that they said.
2. Has anyone had a colonoscopy? I am having a colonoscopy and an upper endoscopy on Monday and am a little (ok, a LOT) scared.
Thanks!
Rachel

Hi Rachel, here is some information that may help explain the procedures you will be having done...

The unknown is always frightening, so hopefully this info will be helpful to you. The toughest part of the colonoscopy for many folks is the preparation before the test. My dh has had 2 done and cannot remember the details at all. The medications used right before the test really do block the memory well.
As for the HIDA scan hurting and causing vomiting...just because your reaction wasn't considered 'normal'...did that nurse, or your own doctor ever suggest that you had an allergic reaction to the dye that was injected?
Hopefully other members will share their experiences too, so be sure to check back, OK?

I think I've had the HIDA scan (is it the one where they test for gall bladder functioning?) and it did hurt me a lot as well.
