Thanks for sharing this information. I've been aware of these possible symptoms for years, but maybe everyone doesn't read as much as I do?

hi drkendie,

I was diagnosed with stage 2C Ovarian Cancer when I was 30. It is known as the "silent killer" as it bears hardly any symptoms. It is difficult to diagnose until tumours are found outside the ovaries which is normally too late to be treated and hardly anyone survived from it.

I experienced most of the 'warning signs' from the article you read. Prior my diagnosis, I remembered that I had bloated feeling and swelling in my abdomen. I also had severe pains and cramps in my left ovary during and after my menstruation which went on for 10 years. As I thought it was just part of PMS , I simply ignored it until my gynae discovered that it was Ovarian Cancer during a keyhole surgery to remove a cyst.

Some of the most common symptoms are:

1. Feeling of bloatedness in the abdomen
2. Change in bowel habits
3. Flatulence & indigestion
4. Abnormal vaginal discharge
5. Swelling abdomen
6. Loss of weight

I have since started a blog and eForum to share my experiences in dealing with Ovarian Cancer. My site - WeAreWonderWomen.com also include many health and food tips that I find extremely useful. Do check out drop me a mail or check out my site (www.wearewonderwomen.com) if you wish to know more about gynaecological cancers.
