Hello,
I went to the doctor a week ago, for my check-up. After the exam, I remembered that I wanted to ask him about my anal fissure that I have had for weeks and weeks now. He explained how when it is trying to heal, then a bm can cause it to open up again, and recommended fiber, water, bathing and zinc cream.
Well, I've done all those, and it's the same or worse...
I have dramatically improved my diet. Way more water, bran cereal, fiber cookies, whole wheat products, veggies, fewer sweets, no coffee and so on. I don't think I have ever eaten this well. I was hoping it would help ease my IBS too.
I got the fissure in the first place when I was on a trip and wasn't eating much fiber or drinking enough water. But now that I am following all the steps, and also taking stool softeners, and using ointment, baby wipes etc.
I will make another doctor's appointment tomorrow, because fissure asside I am concerned about still being so constipated after all these steps. The only step I have not followed is to be more active. I need to work on that, but is it really going to make that much of a difference if the other things are not helping? I also think if I go back so soon it might seem impatient and so I wonder if I should just wait. Anyways, I would appreciate your thoughts on this, and if you have experienced this, any advice you have. Thank you!

Hi there! I think the first step should be to get back to the doc about the fissure. There are treatment options available that may be helpful, now that it seems to not want to heal on its own.
As for the constipation, are you taking any meds that might cause this?
Welcome!

I totally agree with the advice given by Beanygurl. Yes, not being active can have an effect on your digestive system. Do you have any particular health issues that make it difficult to be up and around? Just taking a leisurely walk each day can benefit you.

<Hi Everyone
Thank you for your suggestions and support.
I am taking a medicine that can cause constipation as a side-effect but I have been taking it for over five years and never had the problem until recently. I went for a walk tonight, and am going to make an exercize routine out of walking. I'm going to see the doctor next week and have been increasing the fiber in the meantime. I have not tried suppositories before but it sounds like that would be helpful too.
I have my fingers crossed that this will start working soon so I can stop worrying about it.
Thanks for the update! Walking can be done anytime, anywhere, so you should be able to do this. My dh has a treadmill, but I've never cared for it because I prefer walking outdoors, where I can see stuff and not really think about the fact that I am walking. The treadmill makes it feel like work! LOL
Keep us updated after you see your doctor too, OK?
