Ventral Hernia repair anyone?
| Sat, 08-11-2007 - 11:24pm |
I just found out I have a small abdominal hernia, most likely due to the five beautiful (and did i mention large?) babies I've given birth to. my surgical consult is in 2 weeks. Several people I work with tell me thats likely to include a tummy tuck! Is that for real? I have Tricare Insurance (my hubby is active duty and deployed)...anyone had ventral hernia repair? Did your include a tummy tuck?

Welcome!
I was able to find some information for you, for the type of surgery you may have...

Only you and your doctor can decide which method will be best for your particular hernia surgery. If the laprascopic method is used, you'll probably be home the same day and a 'tummy tuck' will not happen. It isn't truly a tummy tuck, but if you have the open surgery, where your abdomen is opened, the surgeon will possibly remove some excess skin and underlying tissue. You can ask him/her about that before your surgery, but having the open surgery just for that 'benefit' would require a longer recovery period and would be much more painful. Let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you and good luck with whichever surgery you have...keep us updated, OK?
