Sick Baby, Sick Family?

Just wondering how long I need to wait before I can take a deep breath. My 17 month old daughter was sick (6 times) last night and luckily has recovered completely today. I'm just paranoid because I have 2 other kiddos, ages 6 and 4. Not to mention I'm about 11 weeks pregnant. Everything I have found online says that syptoms usually occur w/i 4-48 hours, but can take as long as a week! Arghh...

This is one of those things I know we will all get through, I just worry and worry and worry. I don't I don't want anyone else to get sick and I can't stand being in isolation with stir crazy kids!

Just looking for some advice...

Peace -

Hi Corey and welcome!

I am not sure I understand what you are asking. Do you assume that your child had a 'bug' and wonder if the others will get it too?

Be sure to wash your hands constantly and try to keep the kids from sharing things like drinking cups, food utensils, etc.

If I am off base and you need other advice/suggestions, please clarify for me, OK?

You are right on - I'm pretty sure my baby had a bug and my hope is that it doesn't run through the whole family. We are washing hands like crazy and keeping everything separate. It's just really hard to keep a baby from getting into things that big brother and sister play with too.

To top off the whole thing she just got sick again - after 24 hours with no vomiting! Is this weird? I'm suspicious that we may be at fault, she was insistant that she have some milk before bed so we gave her a little. I think maybe it was too much for her sore tummy.

I hope this blows over soon...

Peace -

I am sending you some extra cyber hugs! Ugh, a bunch of sick kids is always challenging.

Milk and dairy products usually don't sit well in ANY queasy tummy. Have you talked with your pediatrician? I would think that giving her liquids like Pedialite (sp?) are wise, to be sure she doesn't become dehydrated. Vomiting can dehydrate a little one very quickly. Ginger ale can soothe a queasy tummy too, but not sure if it is good for a baby, so please ask and let me know, OK?

I know that paper, disposable cups are pricey for every day use, but when kids are sick, they can help keep germ transfer down a bit.
