Painful lower right tummy - worried

I've been going mad for weeks now. In late November I started having a painful tummy, feeling sick, headaches, fever and feeling run down. I saw my doctor 3 times and he first thought it was a bug, then gladstones and now I was told my blood tests were normal but theres nothing they can do til my scan on Jan 7th 2008! The pain is killing me. I can go to the toilet but it's painful too, but theres nothing worrying in the act itself. A few weeks ago I was given this pills, Zydol 50mgs, which really do help the pain. Now could this be anything really bad or a bug? If I can go to the toilet, thats a good sign right?? Can anyone help me out here with any ideas?!?

This poster did have bloodwork done and even though she didn't name a CBC by name, I have to guess that it was done and no elevation was found.

I know what you mean about being a different type of patient, when dealing with chronic issues. I have to do the same, but our general visitors here have a specific issue that they are concerned about.

I agree that the testing could and should be scheduled sooner, but not everyone is of the personality to 'insist' on having things done. All I can do is suggest a direction; it is up to the patient/poster to take the information and run with it!

Another consideration is that this poster is in Wales and possibly the doctor-patient relationship isn't what you and I have been accustomed to.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts; you and I expect to be listened to and have learned how to get it!

My blood tests were to check liver, blood count and something esle which I cant remember. All came back fine. I saw my doctor again yesterday and I am having another blood test after Xmas to check bowel and a colonoscopy to make sure theres nothing bad going on. Now theres no family history and my age is a help, I've been told I cant get bowel cancer unless its in the family. But he worried I've got an infection goin on and another illness with the bowel. He is also worried about my periods but the scan will pick that up. I am such a worrier but he put my mind at ease. I guess I go for the worse kind of illness when I've not really had the whole medical done yet. I am young and going to take my mind off it til after Xmas!

I am from the UK. Over here, you have to see the doc a few times to get something done. The NHS is a busy thing but theres always a wait for help. My scan date took only 3 weeks to arrive and sure it's a few more weeks, but they are doing something to help me. I am not sure about the other medical thing they are going to do, it might take longer. The first thing is second blood, scan and then see what happens. I am going to take my mind off it over Xmas and new year. I am not going to spoil anything! I have an open mind!

As I said, I have NO idea whats goin on. Theres no need to think I'm dying. It could be anything! I've spoken to a nurse over the phone and shes told me cancer in my age is rare but can happen, but right now I need to keep an open mind about it all! Theres no need to panic!

Blood tests reveal a lot. If your blood failed to reveal a dramatic diagnosis, let me suggest one thing: stress.

Think about it: you began to feel abnormal late November...around the holiday. Now the other "big" holiday is quickly approaching and it could be something as simple as stress.
